Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Northeast Division-champion Springfield Falcons announced on Thursday that they have signed Columbus Blue Jackets draft pick and center Lukas Sedlak to an amateur try-out agreement (ATO).
Sedlak, a native of Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic who signed a three-year entry level contract with the Blue Jackets on Apr. 10, recently completed his second season with the QMJHL's Chicoutimi Sagueneens. With Chicoutimi, he combined for 79 points (32g-47a) in 98 regular-season games over the last two years and collected 13 points (6g-7a) in 24 postseason contests in 2012 and 2013.
A 20-year-old, Sedlak competed for Czech Republic at the IIHF World U20 Championship in 2013 and 2012, totaling three points (1g-2a) in 13 games between the two tournaments.
Sedlak was selected by Columbus in the sixth round (158th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Springfield heads to Providence on Friday before finishing its 76-game schedule in Glens Falls, N.Y. against Adirondack on Saturday.
The Falcons host the first two contests of the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the MassMutual Center. Game 1 will be played on Saturday, Apr. 27 at 7 p.m., with Game 2 following on Sunday, Apr. 28 at 4 p.m. Springfield would also host Game 5, if necessary.
The remainder of Springfield's first-round schedule will be announced on FalconsAHL.com once the club's opponent is determined. The AHL's regular season ends this Sunday. The Falcons, as division winners, will have one of the Eastern Conference's top three seeds.
