
Falcons Host Monarchs Sunday Afternoon

GAME SETUP: The Springfield Falcons and Manchester Monarchs meet for the seventh time this season when they battle on Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center starting at 4:00 pm. The Falcons are 3-3-0-0 against Manchester this season, including 2-1-0-0 on home ice. Tonight will be the first game of a home-and-home series between the Falcons and Monarchs, which concludes on Wednesday night in Manchester.
Ryan Potulny and Viacheslav Trukhno are tied for the team lead in scoring against the Monarchs this year with three goals and one assist for four points each. Gilbert Brule is tied with both Potulny and Trukhno for the club lead in goals against Manchester this campaign with three.
Marty Murray leads the Monarchs in scoring against the Falcons this year with one goal and six assists for seven points in six games played. Vladimir Dravecky, Scott Parse and David Meckler are all tied for the team lead in goals against the Falcons this year with two each.
The Falcons enter tonight's game looking to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to the Worcester Sharks by a score of 7-3 Saturday night at the DCU Center. Charles Linglet, Tim Sestito and Geoff Paukovich all scored for the Falcons last night. Following tonight's game, Springfield will head to Manchester on Wednesday before returning home to host the Albany River Rats on Friday and Hartford Wolf Pack on Saturday.
The Monarchs head into Springfield still fighting for that fourth and final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division. Manchester currently has a record of 28-26-0-6 good for 62 points and sixth place in the division. The Monarchs are only one point behind fifth place Worcester, two points behind fourth place Lowell and five points behind third place Portland. The Monarchs are 2-0-0-1 in their last three games, including a 2-1 win at Lowell on Saturday afternoon.
OILERS SEND PECKHAM TO FALCONS: Edmonton Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini announced Saturday that the Oilers have activated defenseman Denis Grebeshkov from the NHL Injured Reserve List and assigned defenseman Theo Peckham to the Springfield Falcons. Grebeshkov has scored 4-21-25 in 51 games this season to rank eighth in scoring on the Oilers and fourth among Edmonton defensemen. Peckham, who was recalled from the Oilers' AHL affiliate on February 13th, has played nine games with Edmonton this season and is scoreless with 43 penalty minutes.
FALCONS PLAYER MOVEMENT: The Falcons announced Thursday that they have recalled defenseman Ryan Constant from their ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder. Constant has spent time with both the Falcons and Thunder this season. In 38 games with Stockton, he has registered four goals and four assists for eight points and 67 penalty minutes. Constant has also appeared in seven games with Springfield this season collecting one assist and four penalty minutes.
FALCONS NOTES:
Falcons forward Charles Linglet is on a three-game scoring streak having collected one goal and four assists for five points in that span.
Ryan Stone has points in back-to-back games, including a two-goal effort on Friday night against Lowell.
MONARCHS NOTES:
Marty Murray continues to lead Manchester in scoring with 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points in 58 games played. Rookie Justin Azevedo leads all Manchester first-year players in scoring with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 29 games.
