Fresno Falcons News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons dropped their third straight game on Sunday, falling to the Bakersfield Condors 4-3 in front of 6,194 fans at Rabobank Arena.
The Falcons drew first blood 1:18 into the opening period with a power-play goal. Dustin VanBallegooie took a shot from the right point that was redirected in front by Tyler Kindle, who picked up his ninth goal of the season.
Bakersfield answered with a power-play goal of its own at 17:48 to tie the score after one period. Alex Kim moved the puck to Kevin Truelson at the top of the left-wing circle, and he beat Ryan MacDonald with a wrist shot for his third goal of the year.
Fresno regained the lead 5:31 into the second period with a shorthanded goal. John Morlang stole the puck in the neutral zone, and skated into the Condors' end on a 2-on-1 rush with Luke Curtin. Morlang fed a perfect cross-ice pass to Curtin in the right-wing circle, and he beat Hodson with a one timer for his seventh goal of the year.
The Condors came back with another power-play goal just 2:06 later to once again tie the game. Brett Lutes picked up a loose puck on the far post, and slid a quick shot just beyond MacDonald's reach for his 19th of the season.
The special-teams trend continued at 17:12 as the Condors tallied a shorthanded goal to take a 3-2 lead. Alex Rogosheske skated into the Fresno zone and took a wrist shot from the left-wing circle. MacDonald got a piece of the puck, but it rolled behind him and into the goal for Rogosheske's first tally of the year.
Alex Kim extended the Condors lead to two goals 1:49 into the third period, beating MacDonald over the blocker pad with a wrist shot.
The Falcons came right back just 38 seconds later to pull back within one. John Morlang skated into the Bakersfield zone and unleashed a slap shot from the top of the right wing circle that beat Hodson high to the stick side.
