Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (January 14, 2007) - Yannick Tifu's goal thirty seconds into the overtime sent the Trenton Titans away with a defeat at the hands of the Dayton Bombers on Sunday at the Sovereign Bank Arena.
With the score tied 1-1 heading into the extra session, a shot from Greg Labenski deflected off of Tim Konsorada and straight to Tifu who was alone on the near post for the deciding tally. The goal ended a four-game winning streak for the Titans and halted a 0-3-1 skid for the Bombers
As they did the night before against Dayton, Trenton got the first goal of the game on the power play. After a two-man advantage expired, the Titans broke through on the ensuing 5-on-4 when John Laliberte threw a backdoor pass to Mike Pandolfo for his league-leading 27th goal of the season.
The Bombers would tie the score in the second period as Konsorada batted the rebound from Paul Kelly's high wrist shot over the shoulder of Gregg Naumenko at 9:19.
In what was largely a duel between goaltenders, both Naumenko and Bombers netminder Adam Berkhoel made 31 saves with the Titans holding the shot advantage 33-32.
Trenton went 1-for-5 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The Trenton Titans return from the ECHL All-Star break to face the Reading Royals at the Sovereign Center on Friday, January 19 at 7:05pm. Listen live courtesy of b2 Networks by going to www.trentontitans.com
