Fresno Falcons News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â Shane Bandera posted a shutout and Jason Ralph contributed two goals and an assist as the Bakersfield Condors ran over the Fresno Falcons on Tuesday at Centennial Garden, 6-0.
The Condors jumped all over the Falcons in the early going, scoring on their first two shots on goal and building a 3-0 lead through 20 minutes. Jason Ralph scored unassisted at 4:34 and then found the back of the net again at 7:25. The Condors kept up the offensive pressure, outshooting Fresno 13-3 over the final 15 minutes of the first, and made it a 3-0 game at 19:16 when Mike Barrie slotted a backhand from his knees into an empty net.
The teams each had 11 shots in the middle frame, but Bakersfield added to their lead while keeping the Falcons off the board. Johan Astrom found Kevin Riehl alone in front at 8:56 to give the Condors a 4-0 edge through two periods.
Bakersfield added goals by Darren Shakotko at 7:47 and Paul Willett at 11:12 of third, leaving undecided only whether or not Bandera would pick up the shutout. He did by making seven saves in the final period and a total of 27 for the hockey game as the Falcons were kept off the scoresheet for the second time this season.
Fresno remains winless on the road over their last 13 contests, dropping to 11-25-5 on the year overall with a Pacific Division-low 27 points.
The Falcons and Condors play each other for the second game in a row when they renew hostilities in Fresno on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Jason Weaver Bobblehead keychain courtesy of Yellow Book.
