Falcons Announce 2010-11 Schedule

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today their 2010-11 regular season schedule. The Falcons will once again play an unbalanced 80-game schedule, 40 home games and 40 road games. Springfield will play in the seven-team Atlantic Division located within the Eastern Conference.
The Falcons will open the 2010-11 campaign at Providence on Friday, October 8 before returning home the next night, Saturday, October 9, to host the Bruins at the MassMutual Center starting at 7 pm. Springfield and Providence will be wearing throwback jerseys during the season's first two games as part of the AHL's 75th Anniversary weekend. Following the Falcons' home opener, they will host the Charlotte Checkers for the very first time in franchise history on Sunday, October 10 at The Nest starting at 3 pm.
"We are very pleased once again with the final schedule," said Falcons President and General Manager Bruce Landon. "It is never perfect as the League has a difficult job to do in trying their best to assist all 30 teams in the League. However, we have 34 of our home games that will be played on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday which is great. Of our six mid week games, four of them are either before or during a school vacation break."
The Falcons will once again play a majority of their home games on weekend dates, including 12 Friday games, 14 home contests on Saturdays and eight games on Sundays. The Falcons will host three games on Wednesdays and three contests on Tuesdays. Starting times for home games this season will be 7:30 pm for Friday contests, 7:00 pm for games Monday-Thursday and Saturday, and a 3:00 pm starting time for Sunday matinees. The Falcons will have four Saturday home games that start at 7:30 pm including: November 27, December 11, January 22 and February 26.
The Falcons' busiest stretch of games at home will occur when they play six of seven contests at the MassMutual Center starting on February 8 and concluding on February 22. Springfield's longest road trip of the campaign will be five straight games from January 26-February 5.

. October 10 - Springfield and Charlotte play for the first time in franchise history.
. October 30 - Falcons host Hartford for the first time.
. November 5 - Syracuse Crunch make their only trip to Springfield.
. November 20 - Springfield heads to Syracuse for the only time during the season.
. January 1 - Falcons back at home on New Year's Day when they host Manchester.
. January 19-21 - Falcons make very first trip to Charlotte to take on Checkers.
. January 30-31 - AHL All-Star Classic in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
