Rivermen Announce 2010-2011 Season Schedule

The Peoria Rivermen and the American Hockey League announced today their 2010-11 regular season schedule. The 29th season of professional hockey in Peoria will begin on Oct. 8, when the Rivermen host the Manitoba Moose at 7:05 p.m. to kick off the new campaign.

The Rivermen will play their first three games of the season at Carver Arena before they head out on a season-long seven-game, 12-day road trip in which they will play all three Texas teams. Peoria will once again have a fan friendly schedule, for their sixth season in the AHL, which consists of 29 games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Peoria's 80 game schedule includes 40 home games at Carver Arena. Rivermen fans will have an opportunity to see 13 of the 14 opponents in the Western Conference this season, with Rochester being the lone exception. The newest member of the AHL, the Oklahoma City Barons (Edmonton Oilers) will make their first appearance in Peoria on Oct. 30 and return three additional times throughout the season.

On Feb. 12, 2011, the Rivermen will take part in a special game against the Houston Aeros at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. The Rivermen and Aeros will play at 2:30 p.m. while the St. Louis Blues will take on the Minnesota Wild at 8 p.m. that same night.

Milwaukee and Rockford will all face the Rivermen 10 times with Chicago, San Antonio and Oklahoma City opposing Peoria eight times each. Peoria will meet both Houston and Texas just six times this year. The most common out-of-division opponent for Peoria will be Grand Rapids who will see the Rivermen eight times. A total of 56 games will be played within the West Division while the 24 remaining games will be played exclusively against the North Division.
