Two-Time Defending Champion Hershey Bears Announce 2010-11 Schedule

HERSHEY - The 2010 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League the schedule of games that will make up the 2010-11 regular season schedule. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

The schedule features 18 different opponents in 2010-11, highlighted by a trip across the Commonwealth in late December. The BEARS will face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the new Consol Energy Center in downtown Pittsburgh on Thursday, December 30 at 7:35 p.m. The two teams meet in western PA just two days prior to parent clubs Washington and Pittsburgh meeting at Heinz Field in the 2011 NHL Winter Classic.

In a throwback to HERSHEY'S days in the old Eastern Amateur Hockey League days in the 1930's, the BEARS will return to Atlantic City, New Jersey in 2011. The Chocolate and White will face the Albany Devils at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall on Friday, February 4 at 7:00 p.m.

HERSHEY'S chief Western Conference rival, the Manitoba Moose, will face the two-time defending champions four times in 2010-11, twice at MTS Centre in Winnipeg on January 7 and 8, and twice at Giant Center on February 5 and 6. The first-year Charlotte Checkers, the top developmental affiliate of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, play the BEARS eight times in 2010-11, beginning on November 7 in North Carolina.

The 2011 AHL All-Star Classic comes to Giant Center January 30-31, 2011, with the skills competition set for January 30. The 2011 AHL All-Star Game will be along HERSHEYPARK Drive on Monday, January 31.
