Extreme losses season opener to Rock River

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Rock River quarterback Ben Sankey completed 27 of 29 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns to spoil the United Indoor Football season-opener for the Bloomington Extreme, 53-20, before 5,454 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday night.

Sankey helped the Raptors to an early 19-7 lead and his team extended the advantage to 32-7 by halftime. Lawrence Bady caught 11 passes for 138 yards, while Luke McArdle added eight catches for 65 yards and three touchdowns.

Running back Randy Bell gained 91 yards on seven carries as the Raptors evened their record at 1-1 in the Eastern Conference battle. The Raptors enjoyed a 392-174 advantage in total offense despite running only seven more plays.

The Extreme had 70 yards rushing and 104 passing. Rock River had three interceptions. Quarterback Tom Kudyba led the team in rushing with 27 yards on six carries. Rocky Harvey had only 22 yards on nine carries. Kudyba was 7 of 14 passing for 86 yards.

The Extreme returns to action next Saturday with a 7:05 p.m. game against Ohio Valley in Wheeling, W.Va.
