Extra Inning Thriller Won by GreenJackets

Columbia, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 7-5 against the Columbia Fireflies on Saturday night.

The GreenJackets got out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. A sacrifice fly from Manuel Geraldo would score Heliot Ramos from third base to give the GreenJackets a 1-0 lead. Then Logan Baldwin would hit a double off the left field wall to score two more runs. The GreenJackets took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the first inning.

Slowly throughout the game, the Fireflies would chip away at the lead. They eventually would tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In extras inning, both teams would score in the 10th inning to advance the game into the 11th inning. There the GreenJackets took control. With the bases loaded and no outs, a sacrifice fly from Shane Matheny would score Geraldo from third base. Then with runners on second and third base, Nick Hill would put a single up the middle to score two more runs.

Augusta would take a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the 11th inning, were Columbia would only be able to add one more run. The GreenJackets took game three of the series 7-5.

Augusta now leads the series 2-1 and will be back in action tomorrow against Columbia at 2:05 pm.
