DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa pitching shut down Round Rock batters in both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday night at Principal Park, sweeping the Express 2-1 and 4-0. The Express (29-37) have lost six straight, their longest losing streak of the season on the heels of a four-game winning streak that was their longest of the season. The Cubs (35-30) improved to 7-3 against Round Rock this season, including six one-run wins.

Round Rock scored a run on two hits in the first inning of the opener but was shutout on four hits the rest of the night, including getting no-hit the rest of the way in the first game. In the process, Jason Castro saw his 32-game on-base streak snapped, going 0-for-3 in the opener; it was the second-longest on-base streak in the Pacific Coast League this season.

Brian Bogusevic started the night with a single, and Oswaldo Navarro followed with a double that pushed Bogusevic to third. Two batters later, Chris Johnson delivered a sacrifice fly to give Round Rock a 1-0 lead. But that was the end of the offense for the Express as Iowa starter Casey Coleman was perfect the rest of the way. Coleman (6-5) flipped a seven-inning complete game with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Josh Banks (7-5) took the tough-luck loss; he allowed two runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts over 5.0 innings. Jonah Bayliss worked a perfect inning of relief.

Iowa tied the game with a run in the second when Bobby Scales led off with his second home run of the season. Darwin Barney singled to open the third and later scored on Bryan LaHair's two-out RBI. It was LaHair's third game-winning hit against the Express this season.

In the nightcap, Jeff Samardzija and Blake Parker combined on a four-hit shutout of the Express. Samardzija (5-0) scattered three hits and two walks with six hits over 5.0 innings. Parker was even sharper, allowing one hit and one walk with five strikeouts in his 2.0 innings of work.

Iowa struck first in the nightcap, plating a pair of runs on three hits in the bottom of the first. Barney doubled with one out and took third on a wild pitch. After Brad Snyder walked, Micah Hoffpauir delivered an RBI single. Jason Dubois capped the inning with an RBI single. The Cubs tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth. Snyder singled with one out, and Hoffpauir followed with a home run.

Starter Erick Abreu (0-1) took the loss for the Express; he allowed all four runs on nine hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

The Express managed only four hits in the nightcap - singles from Bogusevic, Matt Kata, Brian Esposito and Abreu.

Round Rock and Iowa continue the series Wednesday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at Principal Park. Right-hander Polin Trinidad (3-4, 4.54 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Express, while the Cubs have not announced a starter.
