Wood Completes Rehab, Rodriguez Returns to Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (June 15, 2010) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that infielder Brandon Wood has completed his rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake and will return to the Angels active roster in tonight's home game against Milwaukee. In a corresponding move, the Angels optioned right-handed pitcher Rafael Rodriguez to Salt Lake.

Wood, 25, was placed on the Disabled List on May 24 with a right hip flexor strain and began his rehab assignment with Salt Lake on May 31. In 13 games with the Bees, he hit .196 with one home run and two RBI. Wood began the 2010 season on the Angels opening day roster for the first time in his career and has posted a .156 batting average in 39 games for the Halos this season. A native of Austin, Texas, Wood was originally selected by the Angels in the first round of the 2003 draft.

Rodriguez, 25, has appeared in one game for the Angels in 2010, a two-inning, one earned run outing last night against Milwaukee. In 24 games of relief for the Bees in 2010, he owns a 3-3 record with a 3.54 ERA and eight saves. The Cotui, Dominican Republic native originally signed with the Angels in 2001.

The Salt Lake Bees continue a four-game home series tonight against the Las Vegas 51s at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
