Round Rock Express News Release
Wednesday night, six Houston Astro pitchers, three of them Round Rock alumni, threw the first no-hitter against the New York Yankees since September 20, 1958 in an 8-0 win at Yankee Stadium. It set the Major League record for most pitchers used in a no-hitter and was also the first no-hitter thrown against the Yankees in The Bronx since August 25, 1952.
Roy Oswalt (2000), Kirk Saarloos (2002) and Brad Lidge (2001-02) were each in on the team effort. Oswalt starter the game and went one inning before leaving the game with an injury. Saarloos went 1.1 innings and Lidge went two. Combined, the threesome threw 4.1 perfect innings and Lidge got the win.
It was the first Astros no-hitter since Darryl Kile on September 8, 1993.
