Metairie, LA -- Five Nashville pitchers combined on a four hit shutout to lead the Nashville Sounds (35-30) to a 3 to 0 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs (37-29) on Thursday Night at Zephyr Field.

Nashville would score a run in the top of the first off Zephyrs starter Jared Fernandez as Rob Mackowiak would walk with two outs and score on a triple from Mike Gulan. In the fifth inning Sounds starting pitcher Dave Williams would single to center with one out. Tike Redman followed with a single to put runners on first and second. Tony Alvarez then singled to right as Zephyrs right fielder Royce Huffman bobbled the ball and allowed Williams to score, Redman to advance to third and Alvarez to second. Redman would score on a sacrifice fly from Mackowiak.

Williams would only last four innings allowing one hit, walking three and striking out three. Shawn Camp would start the fifth and was not able to retire a batter. Jason Alfaro singled followed by pinch hitter Kyle Logan's double to left to put runners on second and third. Mike Holtz would replace Camp and strike out Colin Porter and Dave Matranga. Holtz then got Tripp Cromer to ground out to end the inning. That's the closest the Z's would come to scoring off the Sound.

Holtz (1-1) picked up the win pitching 2 1/3 innings allowing no hits. Mark Corey struck out two in the ninth to pick up his PCL leading 19th save of the season. Fernandez (5-6) picked up the loss for the Z's pitching five innings allowing only one earned run on six hits.
