Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, scored a season-high seven goals, led by two from F Bobby Robins, to win 7-4 at Toledo Wednesday morning.
Chicago needed less than five minutes to get on the scoreboard as they capitalized on an early Walleye penalty. A shot from D Darcy Campbell at the point bounced off the end boards and LW Blair Riley was ready to bury a shot into the net. D Evan Stephens also assisted on the goal, scored at 4:50 of the opening period. The Express expanded their lead to 2-0 when newcomer LW Devin DiDiomete collected a rebound from a shot by D Steven Delisle to double the Chicago lead at 11:31. The Express fired 17 shots in the first period.
The Express exploded for four goals in the second period, kick-started just 1:42 into the middle frame when RW Tyler Donati netted his first goal on a backhand shot from the slot. F Bobby Robins added his first goal1:01 seconds later, and rookie F Kyle Ostrow scored exactly 1:00 after that to put Chicago up 5-0. Toledo got things back on track with two straight goals from D Bryan Rufenach, one of which was scored on the power play, to bring the score to 5-2. Robins deposited his second of the season and of the middle frame with 1:35 left in the period to give Chicago a commanding 6-2 lead going into the third period.
Rufenach made things interesting in the third period, as he scored two goals in less than a minute at 8:53 and 9:27 to pull the Walleye back into the game and making the score 6-4. F Tyler Johnson scored his second goal in as many games for Chicago on an empty net with 1:00 remaining, as Chicago won 7-4. G Paul Dainton stopped 40 shots in the win.

Notes:
F Devin DiDiomete played his first game for the Express and scored a goal... RW Tyler Donati was activated from the 3-day IR before the game and scored his first goal of the season... C Aaron Marvin was placed on the 7-day IR before the game... The Express are now 3-0-0-0 against Toledo this season... Chicago has lost just one game when being outshot, and improve their record under such circumstances to 5-1-0-0.
The Express are back at home on Friday, November 11, at 7:30 pm when the Cincinnati Cyclones come back to the Sears Centre.
