
Express Fall 2-1 to Space Cowboys on Wednesday Night

SUGAR LAND, Texas - The Round Rock Express (7-10) posted only four hits and fell to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (12-5) by a final score of 2-1 on Wednesday night at Constellation Field. The Express have lost six consecutive games.
Round Rock starter RHP Gerson Garabito (0-1, 3.60) was dealt the loss after 5.0 innings and only two earned runs. He surrendered just five hits with four strikeouts. Sugar Land starter RHP A.J. Blubaugh (2-0, 0.79) took home the victory after he allowed only one earned run in 6.1 innings. He gave up just three hits with eight strikeouts. RHP Wander Suero earned his second save of the season by throwing a scoreless ninth inning. Suero issued three walks but left the bases loaded in the ninth frame to end the game.
Along the Train Tracks:
* Express CF Derek Hill wasted no time at all. Hill smacked the first pitch of the game over the left field fence and Round Rock took an early 1-0 advantage. * The Space Cowboys answered with a two-out knock in the third inning. 2B Shay Whitcomb singled to score two runs and Sugar Land held a 2-1 lead after three frames. * Round Rock loaded the bases in the seventh inning with one out. Sugar Land LHP Bryan King struck out the next two he faced to get out of the jam and kept the 2-1 advantage intact. * Despite loading the bases in the ninth inning, RHP Wander Suero earned the save to secure the 2-1 victory.
E-Train Excerpts:
* Express RHP Gerson Garabito was added to the E-Train roster today and delivered 5.0 innings on the mound. It was the first time he tossed 5.0 innings or more since July 27, 2021 while pitching for the Sacramento River Cats. * Round Rock C Sam Huff extended his hitting streak to seven games with a 2-for-3 night on Wednesday that included a double and a walk. Huff is 10-for-23 in his last seven games.
Next up: Round Rock and Sugar Land continue their six-game series on Thursday night from Constellation Field with first pitch for game three of the series set for 6:35 p.m. CT. The Express have yet to name a starting pitcher for tomorrow while Space Cowboys RHP Rhett Kouba (1-1, 2.45) is slated to start.
