Round Rock Express News Release
The Round Rock Express turned four Frisco RoughRider errors into seven unearned runs and got some clutch pitching from Greg Powell to down the RoughRiders, 10-6, and split the four game series.
The Express also moved to within five games of first place San Antonio, who lost 5-4 at Arkansas.
9,347 at the Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark saw Frisco erase a 2-0 Round Rock lead with four runs in the third. However, the Express answered in the fifth with the first of four straight frames with a run.
Round scored once in the fifth and sixth and twice in the seventh before plating four runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Six of the nine members of the line up scored at least one run, with Chris Burke touching home three times. Michael Rosamond was 3 for 5, continuing a remarkable second half and Mike Coolbaugh drove in three runs to lead the attack.
Starter Greg Powell (5-6) scattered nine hits over six innings and kept Frisco at bay through the middle innings to get the win.
Reggie Rivard (0-1) took the loss after allowing five unearned runs.
Round Rock will continue the road trip Friday night at 7:10 p.m. with a stop in Little Rock, Arkansas for a four game set with the Travelers.
