
Seung Song Reinstated from Temporary Inactive List

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trapper Baseball Club announced today that right-handed pitcher Seung Song has been reinstated from the temporary inactive list and right-handed pitcher Enmanuel Ulloa has been transferred to Single-A Brevard County. Song was originally placed on the temporary inactive list on July 12 while attending the Futures Game in Chicago. He will be the starting pitcher in tonight's game in Tucson. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 22 players; 11 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and three outfielders, plus two players (right-handed pitcher Jose Colon and right-handed pitcher Bo Donaldson) on the disabled list.
Song, 23, yielded a solo home run to Cleveland Indians' prospect Grady Sizemore in the third inning of the Futures Game, which was played on July 13. He yielded one run on three hits, while striking out one in 1.0 inning of work. Song pitched 1.0 inning of scoreless relief with two strikeouts in the 2002 Futures Game at Miller Park in Milwaukee, helping the World Team to a 5-1 win over Team USA. This was the third consecutive year that Song has been selected to participate in the Futures Game. He is 3-0, 1.95 (27.2 IP - 6 ER) in five starts with the Trappers and was 5-2, 2.35 (72.2 IP - 19 ER) in 13 starts with Double-A Harrisburg. The native of Pusan, South Korea went 7-7, 4.39 (108.2 IP - 53 ER) in 21 starts with Double-A Trenton and 0-0, 0.00 (5.0 IP - 0 ER) in one start with Double-A Harrisburg in 2002. Song was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Boston Red Sox on February 2, 1999. He was traded with right-handed pitcher Sun Woo Kim to the Montreal Expos for outfielder Cliff Floyd on July 30, 2002.
Ulloa, 24, was 0-0, 11.05 (7.1 IP - 9 ER) in three appearances with the Trappers this season. He was 1-1, 3.20 (50.2 IP - 18 ER) with one save in 17 appearances (seven starts) with Single-A Inland Empire, and 0-1, 9.28 (10 IP - 11 ER) in eight appearances with Double-A San Antonio. Ulloa began the season with San Antonio and was transferred to Inland Empire in late April. The La Vega, Dominican Republic native was originally selected in the 21st round of the 1997 draft by the Seattle Mariners and had spent his entire career with the Seattle organization before being acquired by Montreal on June 25. Ulloa spent the 2002 season with Triple-A Tacoma, where he posted a 4-7 record and a 5.96 ERA (77.0 IP - 51 ER) in 38 appearances (two starts) with the Rainiers. Ulloa began the 2003 season with a career 26-18 record and a 4.10 ERA (452.0 IP - 206 ER) in 168 appearances (41 starts).
