Windsor Express News Release

SUMMERSIDE, PEI - DeAndre Thomas scored the game-winning basket with two seconds remaining and Darren Duncan had a triple-double in a 114-112 Windsor Express win over the Summerside Storm at Credit Union Place, March 24 in the opening game of their National Basketball League of Canada playoff semifinal series.

In a wild game that saw the Express battle back from a 23-point deficit at halftime, Duncan showed the leadership and skill set that propelled Windsor from seventh to third place in the NBL Canada standings during the latter part of the regular season. Duncan hit (what the Summerside live-stream announcer called ) a "cold-blooded" three-pointer to tie the game at 110 in the final minute then hit two free-throws with 30 seconds remaining to tie it again at 112 before Thomas scored the game-winner and completed the comeback.

The Storm scored in bunches in the opening half and were up 70-47 at halftime before the Express comeback began. Seven players scored in double-figures for the home team, led by Omari Johnson's 19.

Five other Express players scored in double-figures in the franchise's first playoff appearance. Eddie Smith scored 19 points off of the bench and Greg Surmacz had a double-double, scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Game two of the semifinal series is back at Credit Union Place on Tuesday, March 26 at 7pm AST.

Game three and four (if necessary) are at the WFCU Centre on March 28 and 30. Both games will tip at 7pm EST.
