Storm Playoffs Begin This Afternoon in Summerside
March 24, 2013 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Summerside Storm News Release
(Summerside, PE) The day Prince Edward Island STORM Basketball Fans have been waiting for since Fall 2011 is final here. The STORM play their first ever NBL of Canada playoff game this afternoon at Credit Union Place at 2pm as they open up their best of 5 semi-final series with the Windsor Express.
Basketball pundits are saying this series has the potential to be a great one as both teams are coming into the game as the hottest teams in the NBL to end the season, each with 7 game win streaks. The STORM won the Atlantic Division of the NBL while Windsor finished in a flurry to grad the 3rd seed in the playoffs. The teams split their regular season series with each other, both winning twice in four games.
The STORM line-up features three of the leagues top eleven scorers in Brandon Robinson, Omarie Johnson, and Greg Plummer. The STORM also received a boost this week when STORM veteran Al Stewart, who left to take a full time teaching job in Chicago, has arrived back on the Island for spring break to play with the team.
Tickets for today's game are on sale at the Credit Union Place box office beginning and 9am until game time or can be purchased online at www.stormbasketball.ca or by calling 902-432-1234.
Game two in the series goes Tuesday night at Credit Union Place at 7pm. The series then shifts to Windsor, Ontario for games three and four. If a game five is needed, it will be played at Credit Union Place Tuesday April 2nd.
