(DES MOINES, IA) â The Round Rock Express got a much needed win against the Iowa Cubs and snapped a four game losing streak. The win moved the Express season record to 7-8 and 3-4 on the current road trip.
The Express broke the game open in the fourth inning, plating three runs on four hits. After LF Todd Self, 2B Brooks Conrad and starting pitcher Taylor Buchholz reached on singles, SS Danny Klassen delivered a double to left scoring two.
Travis Driskill picked up his second win on the road trip in relief of starter Taylor Buchholz. Driskill pitched 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits.
The game was called after eight innings due to rain.
The hitting stars for the Express were 3B Mike Coolbaugh who went 4-5 on the night with 2 RBI. CF Charles Gipson went 3-5 with two runs scored in the lead off spot for the Express and RF Barry Wesson belted his second home run of the year and finished the night 2-4.
The two teams meet for the final game of the eight game road trip. Express RHP Ezequiel Astacio will take on RHP Bobbie Brownlie. Game time is set for 7:05 PM. The Express will return to The Dell Diamond to host the New Orleans Zephyrs in a four game series starting tomorrow night at 7:05 PM.
