Expos purchase the contract of RHP Tim Drew from Triple-A Edmonton

The Montreal Expos today purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Tim Drew from Triple-A Edmonton. Vice President and General Manager Omar Minaya made the announcement.

Drew, 24, was 3-8 with a 7.50 ERA (65 ER/78.0 IP) in 15 starts for Triple-A Edmonton at the time of the promotion. Tim, the younger brother of St. Louis outfielder J.D. Drew, is 2-2 with a 6.90 ERA in 18 career big league games (10 starts) for Montreal (2002) and Cleveland (2000-01). He last pitched on Sunday at Albuquerque (Marlins), allowing six runs on nine hits in 8.0 innings to earn the win. Drew will join the team for tomorrow's series opener in Toronto.
