Sioux City Explorers News Release
The Explorers and Lincoln split a doubleheader Wednesday with the X's winning the opener 3-0, but lost 3-2 in extra innings in the second game.
In the first game Jae Jung allowed only three hits in six and two thirds innings as the Explorers posted their first shutout of the season. RBI singles by Derek Schermerhorn and Dustin Jones in the second inning gave the Explorers a 2-0 lead with the X's adding their third run in the fifth inning on a run scoring double by Ray Serrano. In getting his first win of the season, Jung did not walk a batter, struck out two and allowed just three hits, two of those coming in the seventh inning.
In the second game, Lincoln took a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning when Schermerhorn's double scored two runs to tie the game at 2-2. The contest went into extra innings with Lincoln winning the game in the ninth on a RBI single by Jake Jadlowski. It was also the first extra inning game of the season for the Explorers.
The final game of the three-game series with Lincoln will be Thursday at 7:05 at Lewis and Clark Park. Come out and support your hometown X's by stopping down to the X's box office or calling 712-277-WINS to reserve your tickets.
