Explorers Pitching Dominates In Victory Over Kansas City

Sioux City, IA- The Sioux City Explorers pitching dominated, allowing only one run to score to get the 5-1 victory over Kansas City at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

Kansas City got on the board first, recording an early run in the top of the first inning. With a runner at first and two outs, Jake Blackwood ripped an RBI double to score the runner at first base and take the early 1-0 lead.

Explorers answered with a couple runs of their own in the second inning. X's designated hitter Derrick Robinson knocked in the runners at second and third with a two-run single to give Sioux City the 2-1 lead.

Sioux City chalked up two more runs in the fourth inning. X's third baseman Tommy Mendonca smashed a two-run homer, extending their lead by three runs.

The Explorers went on to score one more run on the contest, giving them the 5-1 final score and victory on Friday night.

Explorers starter Jacob Kuebler (2-2) pitched a gem on the night, allowing only one run to cross in five innings pitched .

T-Bones right-hander Jordan Cooper (3-3) was charged with the loss, giving up four runs in six innings while striking out four.
