Expansion HarbourCats to Visit Wenatchee

Wenatchee AppleSox News Release
Wenatchee, WA - After a strong finish to the longest road trip of the season, the AppleSox are set to host the Victoria HarbourCats July 2nd-4th. It's going to be an international affair over the holiday week as the expansion HarbourCats will be making their first ever visit to Wenatchee.
Victoria has burst into the West Coast League (WCL) by setting attendance records, and having at least a share of the lead in the North Division since opening day. Despite Victoria's quick start (10-6) the North Division remains virtually open. The AppleSox (10-10) have won 6 of their last 9 games, and now sit just 2 back of the HarbourCats. If Victoria loses to Cowlitz tonight that lead could be as slim as 1.5 games by the time British Columbian ball club comes to town.
It appears as if the AppleSox will be able to give the HarbourCats all they can handle in the upcoming series. After a tepid start offensively, the AppleSox bats have sprung to life in the last 4 contests by driving in nearly 10 runs per game, and have not scored less than 7 in a game over that stretch.
For the 14th year in a row, the Wenatchee AppleSox will present a fireworks show after the game with Victoria on Wednesday, July 3rd. This spectacular pyrotechnics display has been a fan favorite, drawing the team's biggest crowds each year. Gates will open at 6 PM Wednesday, with the first pitch at 7:05. The fireworks usually start about 20 minutes after the end of the game.
Gonzales Named Two-Way Player of the Year
Former AppleSox Star Claims Prestigious Award
Marco Gonzales has been named as the John Olerud Two-Way Player of The Year. The award, named after former Seattle Mariners star John Olerud, is given to the NCAA's best two-way (pitcher and position player) player each season. This past year Gonzales had a brilliant season at Gonzaga. As a pitcher Marco tallied a 7-3 record with a 2.80ERA, and mowed down a whopping 96 batters. While a member of the AppleSox Gonzales played a crucial role both on the mound and on the field in Wenatchee's 2010 championship run. Marco Gonzales also became the highest ever draft selection by a former AppleSox player in June when the lefty was selected 19th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals.
