Everett's Offense Too Much for Tri-City
August 19, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
A big night at the plate for the Everett AquaSox (15-6, 33-26) was too much for the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-13, 27-32) to overcome as the team lost on Thursday night 9-3. Chris Mattison hit the team's eleventh home run and his second of the season in the loss.
Everett scored a pair of runs off of Tri-City starter Logan Allen in the first inning to take the early lead. Allen, making a rehab start with the Dust Devils, gave up two runs and had four strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.
Nick Zammarelli delivered at the plate for the AquaSox. Zammarelli had four hits and drove in five runs against Tri-City's pitching staff. His bases clearing double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning turned Everett's one-run lead into a four-run advantage.
The Dust Devils will look to avoid the sweep on tonight when the team will send right-hander Hansel Rodriguez to the mound. The AquaSox will counter with right-hander Brandon Miller. Tri-City will return home on Saturday to begin a five-game homestand. There will be a postgame fireworks show presented by Pizza Hut after the team's first game back at Gesa Stadium. It will also be Scout Night sponsored by Big 5 Sporting Goods. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
