
Everett loses to Spokane

Spokane, WA - The Everett Silvertips continue to struggle on the road this season losing to the Spokane Chiefs, 5-1. After a quick 1-0 lead to start off the 1st period, Everett had trouble producing offense and holding off the defending Memorial Cup Champion Spokane Chiefs. Everett, now 0-4 on the road, stays put in third place in the U.S. Division with seven points in eight games. Kyle Beach put up an assist tonight to finish a successful weekend back in the WHL. Beach now has three points (2G, 1A) in two games. Shane Harper scored the lone goal for Everett making that his fourth of the season.
It took only 1 minute and 52 seconds for Everett to jump on the scoreboard. Kyle Beach sent a shot that missed the net wide and took a bounce back in front of the Spokane net where Shane Harper put home Everett's lone goal of the night. Shane Barrie came out strong after facing a single period record 22 shots in the 1st and stopping all 22.
Everett couldn't hold off Spokane much longer as Dustin Donaghy put home the Chiefs first goal of the night at 3:22 of the 2nd. Later on in the period Spokane widened the gap by scoring two goals to end the period. The first on a Power Play by Spokane forward Ryan Letts, and the second goal came 59 seconds later as David Conrad put up his first of the year.
Chiefs goaltender Dustin Tokarski continued to not only help in net but provide the assist for Spokane's fifth goal of the night. Spokane put the nail in the coffin less than a minute later by scoring their sixth goal and defeating Everett 5-1. Shayne Barrie made 43 saves on the night while Spokane's Tokarski had 19 saves.
