Everett 6 - Spokane 5 (OT) (1-28-18)

January 29, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Connor Dewar tied the game in the last minute of regulation and buried the overtime winner, 1:10 elapsed to help lift the Everett Silvertips to a come-from-behind 6-5 victory in sudden death overtime, over the Spokane Chiefs before 4,187 fans in downtown Everett on Sunday in WHL action.

Dewar tied the game with 23.2 seconds left in regulation on an extra attacker set-up which Patrick Bajkov helped out with an assist, part of a two-point game that pulled him to a tie for the Silvertips all-time lead in points with Zach Hamill (262). Dewar then finished the comeback on a 2-on-1 at the left post, stashing Wyatte Wylie's cross-ice feed to complete a five point weekend in a three-game, three-day scenario.

UP NEXT: The Tips visit the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. (Fox Sports 1380 / FM 95.3 / Tips App) at Veterans Memorial Coliseum and return home Saturday, 7:05 p.m. against the Kelowna Rockets. Jake McGrew deflected Kailer Yamamoto's feed from the right circle at 10:15 of the first period to give Spokane a 1-0 lead but Matt Fonteyne rifled a rebound under the crossbar at 15:07 for a tie game. Luke Toporowski's fifth goal of the season came from a sharp angled bid, right circle for a 2-1 Spokane lead at 17:22.

Spencer Gerth deflected Kyle Walker's point shot for a 2-2 tie just 2:52 into the second period but Spokane answered on a Jared Anderson-Dolan redirection at the net 5:58 into the period. Wyatte Wylie tied the game again, 3-3 on a right point blast for a power play goal at 10:30, carrying the tie into the third period.

Spokane ripped off back to back goals to claim a 5-3 lead early in the third period, on Kailer Yamamoto's right circle re-direction at 2:16 and Jared Anderson-Dolan at 4:38 when the Silvertips misplayed a Spokane dumped puck behind the net.

Wylie led the charge back with his second goal of the game, 30 seconds later when he beat Dawson Weatherill with a wrister through traffic to draw the Tips within one. Goaltender Carter Hart, who made 37 saves in his third straight appearance in as many days, was pulled for an extra attacker with a minute left. The Tips executed a cycled puck to Bajkov, who found Garrett Pilon behind the net.

Pilon worked a pass to the slot for Dewar, tying the game on a one-timer for his 26th goal of the season.

After the Tips won a defensive zone face-off in overtime, Pilon cleared the zone for a late two-on-one. Wyatte Wylie, streaking down the right wing with a potential hat trick on his stick, opted for a cross-ice to a wide open Dewar, who slammed in the game winner from the left circle to bring downtown Everett into bedlam.

Hart took the win with 37 saves.
