Maxime St-Cyr of the Florida Everblades Celebrates his Goal against the Brampton Beast
(Florida Everblades)
ESTERO, FL- Corey Cowick scored twice while Anthony Peters made 36 saves to help lead the Florida Everblades (26-11-0-1, 53 pts) to a 4-3 victory over the Brampton Beast Wednesday night at Germain Arena.
Brampton grabbed the opening lead at 2:22 mark thanks to an early power play opportunity. Travis Brown riffled the puck toward the net, but the shot was tipped and redirected past Anthony Peters from the right wing side by Chris Auger for his 14th goal of the year to give the Beast a 1-0 lead.
Four minutes later, the Everblades were able to jump on the board after Maxime St-Cyr (pictured above) broke away from the Beast defense and received a brilliant saucer pass from Brendan O'Donnell. On the breakaway, St-Cyr was able to sneak the puck under the legs of Trevor Cann tying the game up at one.
With five minutes left to play in the first, the Everblades took the lead 2-1 when Corey Cowick found the back of an open net rebounding a Matt Willows shot that went off an outstretched Cann.
In the second period, the Everblades were able to extend their lead to two just 12 minutes into the period as Cowick scored his second goal of the night with a tip in on a Corey Syvret wrist shot from the left wing circle.
Then three minutes left in the second period Tim Bozon swung the puck around Peters after a turnover at the top of the crease by the Everblades in front of the net cutting the lead to 3-2 heading into the third.
At 8:37 into the third period the Everblades extended their lead 4-2 when Brant Harris passed the puck between two defenders finding an open Justin Agosta who shot the puck into an open net behind Cann scoring his seventh goal of the season.
From there it was all Anthony Peters as he closed out the victory stopping 36 out of 38 shots on the night. Trevor Cann takes the loss as he allowed four goals on 22 shots.
The game marked the first ever meeting between the two teams.
The Everblades return to Germain Arena Friday night Jan 15 as they take on the Beast. Game time is set at 7:30 p.m.
