Everblades Go Winless in Three Games Against East Division Opponents

Florida earned one point of a possible six this week as they continued their season-high, 11 game road trip. Florida started the week with a 3-1 loss in Elmira on Friday night. The 'Blades earned their lone point Saturday night with a 5-4 shootout loss in Elmira. Florida finished the week with a 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Reading Royals in Reading, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon. The Everblades complete the road trip with three more games in the East Division this week. Florida and Reading tangle for the final time this season next Wednesday in Reading's Sovereign Center. The 'Blades travel down the road to Trenton, New Jersey with two games with the Devils on Friday and Saturday night in the Sun National Bank Center.

Friday, January 8 @ Elmira, First Arena, 7:35PM

GAME NOTES: In the second meeting ever between these two clubs, the Elmira Jackals stopped the Florida Everblades 3-1. Ex-Everblade Yannick Tifu scored two goals, including and empty netter. Mike Sgroi scored the game winner for Elmira, who improved to 1-1-0 against the Everblades. Florida's lone marker came off the stick of All Star defenseman AJ Thelen, his eighth goal of the season.

Saturday, January 9 @ Elmira, First Arena, 7:35PM

GAME NOTES: In the final meeting of the season between the two clubs, Reading fought back from a 4-1 deficit to grind out a 5-4 shootout loss and one point in the standings. ECHL leading-scorer Justin Donati and Yannick Tifu each tallied a goal and three assists in the win for Elmira. Florida got goals from Jordan Morrison, Mathieu Roy, Colin Nicholson and Paul Healey. The 'Blades went one of five in the shootout, while Elmira converted on two of five chances to record the victory.

Sunday, January 10 @ Reading, Sovereign Center, 5:05PM

GAME NOTES: In the fourth meeting of the season, Reading handed Florida their worst loss of the season, 7-3. Ryan Cruthers led Reading with a hat trick and four points, while Ben Gordon chipped in three assists to pace the Royals. The Everblades slipped to 1-3-0 against Reading with one final regular-season meeting remaining.

THIS WEEK

Wednesday, January 8 @ Reading, Sovereign Center, 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The final meeting of the regular season and the second straight meeting in Reading's Sovereign Center. All time the Everblades have posted a record of 2-1-0 in Reading. The Everblades beat the Royals 4-0, and 4-3 in Reading on November 28, 2008 and December 6, 2008, respectively.

Friday, January 15 @ Trenton, Sun National Bank Center, 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: This is the first of a scheduled five meetings in the regular season between Trenton and Florida. The two clubs meet in back-to-back nights in Trenton before finishing off the season series with three games in Germain Arena on January 27th, 29th and 30th.

Saturday, January 16 @ Trenton, Sun National Bank Center, 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: This is the second and final meeting between Florida and Trenton in Trenton, New Jersey and finishes off a season-high, 11-game road trip for the Everblades. The Everblades are 0-1-1 in history versus Trenton in Trenton. Florida and Trenton have never met in Germain Arena in Southwest Florida.
