GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors (1-0-0) used a three-goal third period outburst to pick up a 4-1 win over the Florida Everblades (1-2-0) on Thursday night at the BI-LO Center to win their inaugural ECHL game.

Greenville came out strong in their opening game of the 2010-11 season outshooting the Everblades 20-5 in the frame. After weathering an initial onslaught by the Road Warriors, the Everblades countered with a couple chances to the net, but by the time the midpoint of the period was reached neither team had found the back of the net.

The first goal of the night came late in the opening period when Matt Schepke tipped a pass from Chris Chappell past Everblades goalie Bobby Goepfert from the top of the crease with just 36 seconds remaining the period.

Despite seeing Greenville carry the majority of the play in the first period, the Everblades came out quick in the second period scoring just 22 seconds in. Alex Imbeault notched his first goal of the year after lifting a nifty back-hand shot from the inside of the right circle past Road Warriors netminder Nic Riopel. Mitch Fadden set up the goal with a quick pass from the left boards.

As the period moved on neither team added anymore goals, but tempers began to flair throughout the frame including a fight at center ice between the Everblades' Trevor Hendrikx and Greenville's Blake Parlett and a number of shoving matches.

The goaltending duel continued into the third period but the complexion of the game changed at the 4:44 mark when Goepfert took a slap shot up high around the collar area and had to leave the game. Rookie Jaroslav Janus replaced Goepfert but unfortunately saw Greenville get three goals past him.

The first of the trio of goals came at 12:25 when Julien Brouillette slipped a wrist shot between Janus' pads from the bottom of the left circle. Brendan Connolly then gave Greenville a 3-1 lead at 13:36 when his wrist shot from the high slot squeezed by Janus. The Road Warriors sealed the win at 16:32 of the frame on Schepke's second goal of the night after racing in on a breakaway and firing a quick wrist shot past Janus.

In goal Janus took the loss in his first action of the season. Goepfert finished the night with a solid showing stopping 31 of 32 shots before leaving with the injury. For the Road Warriors Riopel picked up the win stopping 24 of 25 shots.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 0-of-4, while Greenville closed out the game 0-of-2.
