Evansville Otters Sign Pitcher Tyree Hayes

(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) "" The Evansville Otters added another pitcher on Wednesday with the signing of right-hander Tyree Hayes.
Hayes is a former 8th round pick of the formally named Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization in 2006. The Tomball, Texas native will be entering his seventh season of professional baseball after splitting time between the Tampa Bay and Cincinnatti franchises.
"Tyree is another guy that has a lot of professional experience," said Evansville's Director of Player Personnel Kevin Cope. "He has started and also pitched in relief. We look for him to come in and compete for a starting spot."
Hayes has struck out exactly 250 batters in his career, and boasts a 1.94 strikeout to walk ratio. The right-hander has pitched in 112 games, mixing time between bullpen and starting rotation, and gaining valuable experiences in both roles.
"Tyree has extensive pitching experience and we have received many good reports on his recent bullpens," Otters manager Andy McCauley said. "We will take a look at him in spring training to see where he fits best for us."
The Evansville Otters begin spring training camp during the first weekend of May.
Tickets are now on sale for the 8th annual exhibition game benefitting Jacob's Village. The game will be played on Friday, May 11 at Historic Bosse Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm. General admission price is $4.00 as reserved seats will be selling for $6.00
Opening Day for the Otters at historic Bosse Field is Friday, May 18, 2012, when Evansville hosts the Washington Wild Things. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CDT, and season tickets are on sale now.
