Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC-- One day after the Asheville Tourists scored 17 runs on 20 hits the Greenville Drive made a drastic adjustment. Drive starting pitcher Anderson Espinoza tossed six shutout innings and helped salvage a 4-0 win for his team.

The Tourists were shutout for only the second time this year and managed just two hits in the game; a season-low. Peter Lambert was brilliant for Asheville despite being saddled with the tough luck loss. Lambert went five innings and allowed only one hit; a lead-off double in the second inning to Josh Ockimey. Greenville advanced Ockimey to third on a fly out and scored him on a groundout.

The game remained 1-0 until Ockimey hit a solo Home Run in the top of the seventh. The Drive added two more in the eighth. Asheville's two hits came via a fourth inning double by Brian Mundell and a sixth inning single by Carlos Herrera. The only other runner to reach base for the Tourists was Sam Hilliard who worked a two out walk in the seventh.

Asheville still finished their seven game homestand with a 5-2 record and next head to Kannapolis to play four against the Intimidators. Thursday night's game will begin at 7:05pm.
