Harrisburg Senators News Release
Paolo Espino's eight fantastic innings led the Harrisburg Senators to a second consecutive 3-2 victory over the Akron RubberDucks on Saturday night before a crowd of 4,439 at Metro Bank Park.
Espino's eight innings is the most by a Senators' pitcher this season, but after allowing a leadoff single in the ninth inning, Espino was replaced by Robert Benincasa. The right hander struck out nine to tie a season-high while not walking a batter. Espino threw 93 pitches with 70 of the offerings being strikes. Benincasa allowed a single to the first batter he faced, but was able to work out of the first and second, no-out jam with two strike outs and a force out.
However, Espino allowed a run in the first and fourth inning, which put Akron up 2-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Senators loaded the bases with walks from Matt Skole and Kevin Keyes along with a Jason Martinson single. Quincy Latimore came through as he doubled down the left field line on a line drive that deflected off the glove of Akron third baseman, Justin Toole, to tie the game at 2-2. Then in the fifth, Cutter Dykstra reached with a two-out infield single. Dykstra, who was playing in his first Harrisburg game since July 9 due to injury, advanced to second on a wild pitch. Skole followed with a go-ahead RBI single into center field. Martinson was the only Senator with multiple hits, going 2-for-4.
The Senators are shooting for a four-game sweep tomorrow afternoon with Austin Voth on the mound for a 2:00 p.m. start. Akron will counter with right-hander Jordan Cooper. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 1:45 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.
The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
