Esks name Ron Lancaster as Offensive Coordinator

(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo Head Coach Danny Maciocia named Ron Lancaster as the team's offensive coordinator today.

An 11-year veteran of the CFL, Lancaster brings a wealth of experience and success to the role. He joins the Esks after spending the 2004 season with Winnipeg. From 1998 – 2003, Lancaster was the offensive coordinator of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and was instrumental in helping the ‘Cats secure one Grey Cup victory (1999) in two appearances.

"Ron Lancaster is a creative football mind and an excellent teacher, and I'm thrilled he's part of the Eskimo staff," said Eskimo Head Coach, Danny Maciocia.

The hiring marks a return to Edmonton for Lancaster who served as the Esks offensive coordinator from 1996-'97. During those years, the Eskimos advanced to the Grey Cup ('96) and finished first in the CFL West ('97). Lancaster has deep ties to Canadian university football. He was the head coach at Manitoba (1993-'95) and served as an assistant at McMaster, Toronto and Acadia. Prior to making his mark in the university ranks Lancaster spent two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts (1991-92).
