Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announces the signing of all-star slotback Fred Stamps to a contract extension. The deal will keep Stamps in green and gold through the 2014 season.
The Louisiana native, who spent his entire six-year CFL career with the Eskimos, led the team in receiving yards for the past four seasons. A four-time West Division and CFL All-Star (2009-12), Stamps had four consecutive 1,000+ receiving yards seasons from 2009-12.
Last season, Stamps started in all 18 regular season games and was second in the league with 70 receptions for 1,310 yards and a personal season career-high nine touchdowns. He had four carries for 23 yards on the ground. Stamps also reached two club milestones - sixth on the all-time receptions list and eighth on the all-time receiving yards list. He also started the East Semi-Final where he led the team with three catches for 51 yards.
