Edmonton Elks News Release
With a late season surge that has them within reach of a spot in the post-season, the Eskimos (6-10) host Winnipeg (4-12) Saturday in the last game of the regular season game at Commonweath Stadium. Edmonton is the CFL's hottest team, winning four of their last five games.
With Ricky Ray sidelined, sophomore Jared Zabransky will start his second straight CFL game after engineering a 39 - 24 win last week over Saskatchewan. The Esks opted to bring in Kerry Joseph, ex-Ottawa/Saskatchewan/Toronto and the 2007 CFL Most Outstanding Player, for some added depth at quarterback.
There will be new face on the O-line. Patrick Afif, a late cut from the Esks camp, returns to the team and will replace Jeremy Parquet who went down with injury in the win over the 'Riders.
It's Fan Appreciation Night, but what Eskimo fans would most appreciate is a win over the Bombers which would put Edmonton two points up on BC who play Saskatchewan Sunday. A BC loss would clinch a playoff spot for the Esks and a trip to Regina for the CFL West-Semi Final on November 14.
