Blue Bombers Sign Morencie off Ti-Cats Practice Roster

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today they have added non-import offensive lineman Matt Morencie, signing him off the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' practice roster.

Morencie (6-3, 295, Windsor, DOB: December 28, 1987 in Windsor, Ontario) was drafted by the BC Lions in the third round (21st overall) of the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft but was released during training camp and returned to college for his final year of eligibility. He was signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this past offseason but never saw any playing time. In college, Morencie played all five positions on the offensive line as well as stints as a slotback and defensive lineman. He won the J.P. Metras Trophy as the 2009 CIS lineman of the year and was named a first-team CIS All-Star that same year. Morencie was a first-team OUA All-Star in 2009 and 2008 as well as a second-team OUA All-Star in 2007.
