Eskimos add six-year CFL vet to defensive secondary

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos announced today they have signed free agent import defensive back Ricky Bell. Bell has played six seasons in the CFL. Last year with Montreal he registered 49 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery in 18 regular season games. He also played in the East Division Championship and the Grey Cup.
Eskimo Head Coach & Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says, "Ricky is a physical player with excellent cover skills and is an established CFL vet."
Bell began his CFL career in Calgary and played in Ottawa and Winnipeg before joining the Alouettes in 2005. In his CFL career he has racked up 242 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, 25 knockdowns, two fumble returns and five interceptions in 94 games. Before coming to Canada, Bell spent time in the NFL (Pittsburgh, Jacksonville and Chicago), NFL Europe (Barcelona) and the XFL (Orlando).
