Argos become Canadian Blood Services' Partners For Life

Mississauga - At a Canadian Blood Services breakfast this morning with Mississauga corporate and community leaders and Mayor Hazel McCallion, Toronto Argonauts President and CEO Keith Pelley pledged the Argos commitment to the Partners For Life 2007 Campaign, guaranteeing to donate 500 units of blood from its players, coaches, staff, cheerleaders and fans. The 500 units of blood will help save 1500 lives.

Commented Pelley, "As Toronto's #1 community team, I believe it is our duty to help Canadian Blood Services as Partners For Life. I challenge the other professional sports teams in Toronto - the Blue Jays, the Maple Leafs, the Raptors, the Rock, and Toronto FC - as well as the other CFL teams across Canada, to do the same and match or exceed our commitment. I personally donated blood with other Argo staff members for the first time in January. There are convenient locations everywhere and it only takes one hour of your time to save three lives."

The Toronto Argonauts will hold a blood drive inside Rogers Centre from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at its September 8 game vs. Hamilton. As well, Canadian Blood Services will be running its "What's Your Type?" program at the outdoor streetfest before every Argo home game.
