Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

Kannapolis, NC – A pair of throwing errors by Jeff Little in the sixth allowed two Augusta runs to score and handed the Intimidators a 5-3 loss. Little takes the loss (3-3). Doug Mackay got the win for Augusta in relief (1-0). Brian Wilson pitched a perfect ninth for his 10th save. Kannapolis has now dropped four of its last five and has fallen back to 29-29 on the year – winning just three of the eight in the homestand.

In the sixth Little induced catcher Steve Holm into a groundball back to the mound. Little moved to the left to field it, but the ball turned into Crisco and Little couldn't get a grip in time to throw out the slow moving Holm. Little then plunked the next batter before throwing the ball away on an Alex Requena sacrifice bunt attempt allowing one run to score. A Carlos Sosa single scored the other run giving the Greenjackets the 5-3 edge.

Augusta started on top with three runs off Intimidators spot starter Oneli Perez in the first inning. Only two of the runs were earned thanks to a Jose De Los Santos error – meaning only one of Augusta's five runs was earned. Berry led the Intimidators with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and an RBI.

The I's scored three runs in the third on four hits. After an Adam Ricks leadoff single, Boomer Berry and De Los Santos hit back to back doubles driving in two runs. Clint King walked in a run loading the bases with just one out. The I's could not get another run across.

Kannapolis now goes on the road for four games at division leading Charleston. The I's will be back home Saturday night to take on Columbus at 7:05 pm. Tickets for the final game of this eight game home stand are still available by calling 704.932.FANS or online at intimidatorsbaseball.com.
