Greenville, SC - Wednesday night's series opener between the Drive (9-16) and Lexington Legends will not be referenced for teaching proper defense. The two teams combined for five errors, and only two of runs scored at Fluor Field were earned as the Legends (12-14) came away with a 4-2 victory at Fluor Field.

Madison Younginer was the victim of spotty defense behind him, suffering the loss despite only surrendering one earned run during his 5.0 inning stint. An error by right-fielder Henry Ramos led to two unearned runs in the top of the second, giving Lexington an early lead. Younginer was charged with his only earned run in the top of the fourth when Zach Johnson led off with a triple and later scored.

Other than the three unearned runs, it was a sound effort from the former Mauldin High product, who lowered his season earned run average a full run from 6.19 to 5.14. Younginer allowed three hits and issued just one walk, while striking out three.

The Drive struck for their first run in the bottom of the fifth, their first of two unearned runs in the ballgame. Ramos roped a one-out double, advanced to third when Jordan Weems reached on an error, and scored on Jose Vinicio's sacrifice fly.

Lexington countered with their final run in the top of the sixth on an RBI-double by Mike Kvasnicka off of reliever Scott Swinson. Greenville plated their second and final run in the bottom of the eighth when Vinicio laced a triple into the right-field corner. When former Clemson standout Chris Epps bobbled the ball, it allowed the speedy shortstop to score.

Swinson tossed the final four innings for the Drive, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, while striking out two.

The Drive and Legends meet in the second game of the series on Thursday, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Lefty Mickey Pena (1-2, 2.33 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Greenville, while Lexington counters with left-hander Luis Cruz (1-1, 4.44 ERA).

Tomorrow is Dollar Drink Night at Fluor Field, where fans can purchase 12 ounce Pepsi products at any of the concession stands for just a dollar. Those fans at least 21-years-of-age can head over to The 500 Club for draft specials.
