Lexington County Blowfish News Release

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. -- An error in the top of the third inning would doom Lexington County in their first game of the second half of the Coastal Plain League season, as Wilmington knocked off the Blowfish 3-1.

Clark Scolameiro (South Carolina) roped a single up the middle towards Jordan Wren (Georgia Southern) who misplayed the line drive and allowed the ball to roll all the way to the left center field wall.

Grant Koch (Arkansas) and Mark Donadio (Fordham) came around to score as Scolameiro roared around third to complete the error aided inside the park home run.

That's all the offense the Sharks needed to beat the Fish.

Lexington County got their first and only run in the bottom of the first inning after Wren slapped a ground rule double over the left field wall. Chas McCormick (Millersville) followed it up with an 0-2 single into right field to knock Wren in.

The Blowfish were held at bay for the rest of the game and the Sharks grabbed the lead in the third never relinquishing it.

Lexington County stranded 9 base runners in the game and struck out 11 times in the game.

Zach Kolodziejski (Niagara) was handed the tough loss (2-1) going 5 innings allowing three unearned runs walking two and striking out five.

Conner Riley (USC-Aiken) went six strong (2-3) without allowing a run and only six hits. He walked one and struck out ten Blowfish batters.

Tomorrow night the Blowfish are back home to take on the Edenton Steamers at 6:05 p.m. Coverage begins on z93.1 FM The Lake at 5:50 pm.
