EDENTON,NC - The Edenton Steamers finished off the first half of their season with a 10-3 win over the Wilson Tobs on Saturday night. Edenton (12-16) matched its largest winning margin of seven, while Wilson (14-13) dropped its second consecutive game. Trevor Houck grabbed the win for the Steamers. Thompson (0-3) lasted four innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits and one walk to two strikeouts. Edenton broke open the scoring with two runs in the first. Richie Cunningham and Trey Hair reached on consecutive singles, putting runners on first and third with no outs. Aaron Aucker knocked a sacrifice fly to center to bring in Cunningham, and the throw came in to an unmanned first base, allowing Hair to move to third. Tony Rosselli added a second sac fly to center to score Hair and give the Steamers a 2-0 advantage. Ryan Byers added a run for the Clams with a solo homerun in the second, and Wilson came back with a run on two hits in the third to bring the score to 3-1. Edenton rallied for two more runs in the bottom of the inning as Cunningham and Hair put two men in scoring position with a single and double, respectively. A wild pitch from Thompson scored Cunningham and put Hair on third, and Aucker made it a 5-1 lead with a single in the next at bat. The Teal and Black blew the game wide open with a four-run fifth inning. Aucker doubled to lead off the frame and Rosselli drew a walk in the next at bat to put two on with no outs. Thatcher Coleman came to the dish and knocked a moonshot over the wall in left to add three runs. After Van Horn moved third when Byers grounded into a double play, Cunningham knocked his third single to give the Steamers a 9-1.
