FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.-The SwampDogs scored first and last but the middle of the game was controlled by the Wilson Tobs starter Travis Holden who led the Tobs to a 5-3 Sunday night at The Swamp. Holden held the SwampDogs to just three hits over eight and a third innings pitched, allowing just one unearned run and two hits before the ninth inning. The Tobs' offense was sparked by Logan Baldwin who drove in three runs. Connor Leonard added a solo home run in the third. The SwampDogs rallied in the ninth with two singles after one out to chase Holden from the game. The SwampDogs scored twice with reliever Zack Mozingo on the mound and put the tying run on second with two outs. David Summerfield grounded a ball up the middle that was fielded behind the bag by Tobs' second baseman Austin Fisher. Fisher threw off-balance to retire Summerfield by a half-step to end the game. The SwampDogs fall to 0-1 in the second half and 10-18 overall. The Tobs are 1-0 in the second half and 15-13 overall. The 'Dogs hit the road Monday to play the Asheboro Copperheads on Independence Day. The game can be heard on mixlr.com/fayetteville- swampdogs at 6:50pm.
