(Erie, PA) - Erie starter Victor Larez tossed six strong innings and the SeaWolves scored five runs in the fourth inning en route to 6-2 win over the Trenton Thunder Friday night at frigid Jerry Uht Park. Larez (2-0) retired 17 of the final 18 batters he faced and combined with reliever Will Startup on a four-hitter as Erie handed Trenton its fourth consecutive loss.

Entering trailing the game 2-0, Erie batted around against Thunder start Caleb Cotham (1-1) in the fourth with six of the first seven batters to come up collecting hits. Back-to-back RBI singles from Corey Jones and Marcus Lemon tied the game at 2.

Then with the bases loaded and still only one out, leadoff batter Daniel Fields drilled a three-run triple over the head of centerfielder Slade Heathcott to put the SeaWolves ahead for good. Ramon Cabrera would add an RBI single in the seventh against reliever Branden Pinder.

Larez allowed two runs in the first on two walks and one hit. Kyle Roller's bloop RBI double to right opened the scoring, which was followed by Rob Segedin's sacrifice fly. The right-hander only allowed one baserunner thereafter and lasted a total of six innings, allowing two hits and striking out five.

Startup pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the seventh, then stranded two more runners on base in the eighth. Fields led the way offensively by going 2-for-4 with a walk and three RBI. Roller had two of Trenton's four hits.

Game three of the series is scheduled for Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:35 pm. Left-hander Nik Turley (0-1, 7.82) is expected to start for Trenton while Erie counters with southpaw Kyle Lobstein (1-1, 4.96). Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR), 1490 AM (WBCB) and also streaming online begins at 1:20 pm.
