ERIE, Pa - For the second night in a row, the Altoona Curve found themselves on the bottom end of a back-and-forth slugfest against the Erie SeaWolves (AA - Detroit Tigers), falling 10-7 on Thursday night at Jerry Uht Park.
For the second times in as many games, the Curve and SeaWolves exchanged leads four different times.
Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Altoona held a lead of 6-4 but it would evaporate quickly. Erie posted a quick four runs as the âWolves sent 10 men to the plate. A combination of two Curve hurlers - Eric Krebs and Lincoln Holdzkom issued a total of five free passes - four walks and one hit batsmen which aided in the comeback.
On Thursday, former Pirates first-rounder Brad Lincoln made his Double-A debut and pitched well. Over four innings Lincoln struck out five batters and scattered four hits.
He would be followed by another former top pick Daniel Moskos, who allowed a run over one inning of relief.
Brian Friday enjoyed another successful night offensively, as the Curve leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three runs scored.
Jim Negrych turned in a 2-for5 night for Altoona and is 6-for-10 over in his first two games.
The Curve will send RHP Jared Hughes (NR) to the hill in the third game of the series. Hughes will be opposed by Erie right-hander Alfredo Figaro (NR). Radio coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
