Erick Fedde Named Carolina League Pitcher of the Week

Woodbridge, VA--- Monday afternoon, the Carolina League announced that Potomac Nationals RHP Erick Fedde has been named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 11th to July 17th. It is the second straight "Pitcher of the Week" award for Potomac and third overall this season. LHP Justin Thomas took home the award last week as he picked up three saves and did not allow a run over the week.
Fedde has been dominant over the past seven weeks and this past week was no exception. In his lone start this last week, the righty allowed just one unearned run over six innings in a no-decision at BB&T Ballpark against the Winston-Salem Dash. Fedde allowed just four hits, struck out five, and walked only one. It was the fifth quality start for Fedde in 2016.
Over Fedde's last seven outings, the right-handed starter is 3-0 with a 0.82 ERA, as he has given up just three earned runs in 33.0 innings. Over that stretch, Fedde has 31 strikeouts to only seven walks, while opponents have hit just .190 against him. Fedde, the 18th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, is 5-3 with a 3.76 ERA in 14 games this season. The righty has 66 strikeouts to just 16 walks and a strikeout rate of 8.9 K/9.
This is the fourth weekly award overall for Potomac in 2016, as Fedde, Thomas, RHP Boone Whiting, and CF Andrew Stevenson have all taken home the honors this season.
