Montreal, May 11, 2007 - Montreal Alouettes President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Larry Smith is proud to announce the appointment of Éric Lapointe as the Alouettes' ambassador.

"We are proud to continue our association with Éric Lapointe, a well-respected player in the Canadian Football League who had a tremendous career with the Alouettes," said Mr. Larry Smith. "We will count on Éric to represent our organization in the community as well as in the business world, which is something he has done admirably throughout his career."

Lapointe played eight CFL seasons, including the last six years with the Alouettes. He ran the ball 396 times for 2,416 yards and 16 touchdowns in 109 career games. He maintained an impressive 6.1 yards-per-carry average over his career. He also won the Hec Crighton Award as the best university player in Canada in 1996 and 1998.

"It's an honour for me to not only remain associated with football, but to also represent the Alouettes at home in my community, where I grew up as a football player," said Éric Lapointe. "My objective is to communicate my passion to the community, while hoping to become an inspiration for young Quebec football players who will one day play for the Alouettes."

He joins Hall of Famer Peter Dalla Riva as an Alouettes' ambassador.
