Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (11-10) won 101-99 over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (17-4) Thursday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Energy were led by Joel Wright with a game-high 26 points and four rebounds. Lazeric Jones added 24 points and seven rebounds. Alex Stepheson posted his 14th straight double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. The Skyforce were led by Tre Kelly with 22 points and four rebounds.
It was a close start to the game with three lead changes and three ties in the first quarter. Jones led the Energy with nine first quarter points. The Skyforce pulled away in the second behind nine points from Kelly. Sioux Falls outscored the Energy 32-21 in the second to hold a 59-44 lead at halftime.
The Energy started off the second half hot, opening on an 8-0 run to close the gap to seven points in the first 1:34 of the third quarter. Iowa went on to outscore Sioux Falls 32-23 behind 15 points from Jones. Iowa trailed 82-76 heading into the fourth. The Energy continued to fight and tied the game with less than 1:00 to play. Stepheson scored the winning basket on a monster dunk with :4.3 to play. Sioux Falls missed a desperation shot as time expired and Iowa won 101-99 to end Sioux Falls' 10-game winning streak. The Energy have now won four in a row.
